Analysis

The significant increase in drug seizures from 2020 to 2022 reflects the evolving nature of drug-related activities and the Commission’s ability to adapt and respond effectively. The surge in seizures in 2022 can be attributed to improved intelligence, enhanced collaboration with national and international partners, and the use of advanced technology in detecting and intercepting illicit drug shipments.

The rise in arrests over the years is indicative of the Commissions’s proactive approach to identifying and apprehending individuals involved in drug-related offences. The increased number of convictions demonstrates the effectiveness of our investigations and evidence presentation.

These accomplishments, however, also highlight the persistence of drug-related challenges and the need for continuous efforts to combat the illicit drug trade. The magnitude of drug seizures underscores the ongoing demand for illicit substances and the importance of preventive measures, public awareness campaigns and community engagement initiatives.
