Classroom Guide
Tools to open the conversation, spot early warning signs, and know what to do next.
Discussion Prompts
- What makes it hard to say no to a friend?
- Where do you usually see drugs or vaping talked about — social media, music, friends?
- Who is a trusted adult you could go to if a friend needed help?
- What’s the difference between a risk and a fact you’ve heard?
Warning Signs to Watch For
No single sign confirms substance use — look for a pattern, not a moment.
- Sudden drop in grades or interest in school
- Withdrawal from friends, family, or usual activities
- Unexplained mood swings, secrecy, or irritability
- Changes in sleep or appetite
- New friend group with little other explanation
- Missing money, valuables, or prescription medication
