The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has donated office supplies and accessories to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to fulfil its official mandate.

The items include five all-in-one desktop computers, five laptops, five projectors, five UPS, five multifunctional printers, ten compact digital cameras, fifteen power extension boards, ten filling cabinets, and fifteen anti-theft devices.
Presenting the items to the Director-General and his management team at the Headquarters of NACOC in Accra last week, H.E Baba Gana Wakil, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Ghana, commended the Commission for its practical and proactive measures geared towards controlling the illicit drug trafficking menace which poses as one of the security threats for countries in the region.

According to H.E Ambassador Baba Gana Wakil, the gesture was part of ECOWAS’ commitment to supporting drug law enforcement agencies across the Sub-Saharan region.

He asked the Commission’s administration to stay committed to addressing the illicit drug challenges since his organisation is prepared to support all relevant institutions to guarantee citizens’ safety nationwide.
The Director-General, Mr Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, praised ECOWAS for providing timely support to further its operational activities and guaranteed that the supplies would be used effectively.

Additionally, he underlined NACOC’s commitment to working with ECOWAS to gradually eliminate the global threat posed by the illicit drug trade.
